First licensed as KN3WMz (Novice) in 1962 and then as WA3CMQ (General) in 1964, Joe has over 50 years of experience designing, leading design teams, general management and corporate management in the telecommunications industries. Along the way, he also founded two successful companies of his own, one of which he still runs.
Joe has a degree in Engineering Physics and holds or is in application for at least 8 US Patents. Joe’s early professional years were as an RF design engineer, working at frequencies from HF through Ka band microwave. Along the way, he also learned to program micro-controllers as well as PC’s. In addition to Ham radio, Joe is also something of a gear-head, having spent a major part of his formative years under the hood of some sort of motor vehicle. He is also an accomplished home builder & handyman, having been raised by a general contractor. In general, Joe is a ‘hands-on’ kind of guy.
Joe isn’t a real active ‘operator’ kind of ham, but he does enjoy the satisfaction that comes with developing novel ways to make radios and related systems work better. He’s very happy to have you tuned in and interested in his Bright Ideas.
Enjoy.
