X1M In the Field

I recently went out on a 5-day camping trip and I took my X1M, a homebuilt 20M EFHW antenna, a battery and my ASUS Transformer Android tablet along. I was able to receive many PSK31 and CW signals using Android apps DroidPSK and MorseDecoder, but I wasn’t able to transmit because I apparently didn’t wire the PTT in my interface box properly to either the CW key line or the microphone PTT line. It’s unfortunate I didn’t test these ‘on-air’ before leaving home.

The attached pictures show the setup. The 20M EFHW and matching box are hanging from a tree limb and the lantern pole in the campsite. The matching/tuning unit for the antenna is hanging from the antenna’s near end and a coax goes to the rig. The homemade antenna launcher is sitting on the ground.
